Thank you Kingston Humane Society for all of your great work. Charlie has made a wonderful addition to our home. Despite his size he is convinced he is the worlds greatest lap dog, and loves his new house we built for him. I can't say how happy we are that we took Charlie home and hope that his previous owner will sigh a happy sigh of relief in knowing that he is in a loving home, and is being spoiled like no other dog has been. Once again thank you for all of your hard work and dedication in saving Kingston pets who need to be saved, you are the guardian angels of our furry friends.

We had wanted a kitten for a while.  But everytime we went in, we got the same answer. Sorry - no kittens yet.  Then one day my 3 year old son and I strolled in and the lady behind the counter said she thought there might have been a kitten..so she looked for his papers and couldn't find it.  She said, I guess he's gone.

Very disappointed, we decided to go and have a look anyway.  We drove all this way.

The first room we went into just had older cats that all looked very sad.  The next room we went into, all I saw was big cats and we turned around and started to leave.  Then from out of nowhere we heard this little squeaky meow.  I turned around and saw this little ball of energy bounce to the front of his cage and look at us.

I went straight out to the counter and told them I found a kitten and we weren't leaving without him.

He was black and white&so the first name that came to my mind was Oreo (like the cookie).  Of course my son wanted to call him Cow because he was black and white like a cow.  We were so excited.  By the time my older children came home from school, he was already bouncing around the house enjoying his new surroundings.

It's now a year later and Oreo has grown a lot.  We have a fish tank and that is one of his favorite pastimes to sit and watch them swim.  Once he even ventured to stretch a paw into the water.  The fish was close to the surface of the water and when he saw the cat he flipped and shot out of the way.  The water splashed and scared the cat and he fell off the table.  It was pretty funny.

Oreo likes to play tag with me and the kids.  We'll just kinda tap him on his back and run out of the room.  He waits a few minutes and then comes running around the corner and we jump up and scare him.  He goes right up on his hind legs and swats at us.  Then he runs away and hides and it's our turn to come and look for him.  When we get close he jumps out at us.  It is SO much fun!

He's got quite a personality - at least I don't think all cats do that. Anyway, Oreo is a very loving and affectionate cat.  He wasn't much of a lap cat when we first got him, but now he's always in our faces and we love it!

I'm including a picture of him taken recently.  Isn't he handsome?  He loves to try and catch the mouse on the screen!

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to bring such a beautiful animal into our family.

Hello KHS I just wanted to thank you for looking after me until my new mom picked me up on Halloween Day 2002. ( a special thanks to Kelly Golden, she was really nice to me during my stay) You may remember that I HATED that cage I was sleeping in , so I was very HAPPY to jump in the car and I slept for most of the 4 hour trip home. At one point I wanted to tell my new mom how relieved I was to be on my way home, so I gave her a big kiss on the ear. She was very happy and called me a "good girl" (I get called that a lot these days!)

When I arrived at my new home I sniffed around a bit, checked out the back yard and waited with mom to meet my new dad. He was really happy to meet me and we have been best friends ever since. That first night was a little scary because the door bell kept ringing and little human witches and ghosts were demanding candy and chocolates. But I must have been good because mom and dad said "good girl" each time!

On the weekend, I met my 9 year old human brother ... and I love him! We play lots of games together & we take turns choosing which games to play.. Sometimes we play hockey and other times he throws the stick for me in the backyard. I love weekends because we get to play together A LOT. My little brother speaks in french to me, but I don't mind. I hear mom and dad telling people that I am "bilingual" , whatever that means?

During the week, my mom takes me for a nice long walk before she goes to work. While mom and dad are at work , I sleep on my comfy bed so that I can build up my energy for when mom gets home.... She seems to love throwing the stick in the backyard with me as soon as she gets home, so I bring it right back to her each time. ( I love running around in the snow I can't wait to check out the pool in the summer!) When we go inside , I help mom with dinner. My job is to guard the food and catch anything that falls on the floor. I am very good at this and quick too! I have also been told that I am the "official baguette tester" of the house . I do a really god job eating the end of the baguette!! When dad gets home, the first thing I do is bring him one of my toys so he can have fun playing with me before he takes off his coat. After dinner we go for another long walk and then settle in for the night. I let mom and dad rub my tummy as often as they like while we watch tv.

Once a week I go to school and I really love my teacher.... everyone says that I am a very good student! I am learning lots of stuff & get to eat a lot of cheese while I am there. I am also learning to be a little less cranky with other dogs. I hear mom and dad talking to my teacher & they all think I am making really good progress! Thanks again for helping me find my new family... Here is a picture of me in my favourite pose.
Love and lots of kisses.....Cassie
