Oak Leaf Gardens, Athens and Fulford Place, Brockville

Oak Leaf Gardens took 25 years to develop from a hayfield to a magnificent rose garden with mostly heritage varieties. Owner Paul Fritz was the speaker at our February meeting. The timing of this trip is, we hope, at the peak of bloom and fragrance.

Following this, we visit Fulford Place in Brockville, the magnificent Edwardian mansion on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. Its Italianate Garden was designed by the Olmstead landscaping company, designers of Mount Royal Park in Montreal, Central Park in Manhattan and Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

The bus leaves the Toys-R-Us parking lot (corner of Princess and Hwy 38) at 9 a.m., returning at about 4 p.m.

Lunch is available at the Tea Room in Fulford Place.

Price: $45.00 which includes transport and a guided tour of the Mansion.
